大衛林奇導演取材自真實醫療檔案，著重時代氣氛的重現。故事講述維多利亞時代，一名英國醫生在馬戲團發現了一個頭部畸型的象人，受盡不人道的待遇，於是將其帶回醫院作研究。不料馬戲班班主帶人又將象人搶去，到歐洲各地巡迴展出，幸得團中其他畸型人暗中他救回英國，終於使他體驗到人間的溫暖。本片有安東尼霍普金斯、約翰赫特和安妮班克勞夫特等影星出演，攝影美術與化妝也均有一流水準，故事的發展流暢，演出動人，而且籍醫生與群眾的行為檢討了人類對 “道德”和 “正義”的標準。《象人》是大衛林區有史以來最「平易近人」...
